Moreover, private unregulated healthcare services pose a risk to patient safety across all age ranges as they are not subject to the same level of scrutiny as registered services.

This policy does not affect patients receiving NHS gender clinic care or those wishing to be referred to a specialist NHS gender clinic. Management for these groups of patients is continuing, provided an appropriate shared care agreement is in place with NHS commissioned gender services.
