Patients that have had blood tests, CT scans, MRIs and/or X-rays requested by our GPs and Clinicians, will have their results sent back to us in due course (this is dependant on hospital reporting times).
Blood tests results usually take up to 5 working days to come back – you will receive a text message or email from Healthtech our reports provider, informing you of the results of your blood tests. If you do not please contact us after 5 working days.
The time required for scans results to report back, unfortunately, vary between case to case, usually taking a couple of weeks. Some MRI scan reports can even take a few months to come back to us.
When we have received the results, they are given to the clinicians to review. When the clinicians have reviewed the results, they will leave a comment whether it is normal, satisfactory or abnormal and if there is any action required. If you are registered on the NHS App you will be able to see your blood test results and the action and comment attached to it.
As we receive so many results per day we do ask that if you have not received a message about your results, that you contact us after 5 working days. Please be aware that the local laboratory does send results back individually so you may receive several messages for example one for HbA1c (blood sugar), one for full blood count, one for vitamin D and so on (dependant on how many blood test factors you have had tested).
If you would still like to know if your results have been received or what the results are, there a few ways to find out:
You can call the surgery any time after 3pm. Please note our reception staff can only notify you if the results are marked as Normal, Satisfactory or Abnormal. If you require specific details, we can send you a copy of the results via email.
You can view your results online via NHS App or Patient Access App. Both will tell you if the results came back normal, satisfactory or abnormal but also show you the specific details about your results.
To learn more about the apps, check out our “Online Services” page.
Please login to your GP online service account to enquire about your test results. If not registered, we would recommend you to register for GP online services, by using one of the links below.
Please note: The NHS App allows you to get registered without the need to visit the practice.
Through Patient access and NHS app, you will also have the ability to Book or Cancel an Appointment, Request a Repeat Prescription, Change Personal Details and View your Medical Records without visiting the practice.
Once you have set it up, the easiest and most reliable way to access your results is online, via the NHS App. You do not need to visit the surgery to do this.
First you will need to set up your NHS login.
Then download the app from either the App Store (if you have an iPhone) or Google Play (if you have an Android phone)
Once you are in the app, it will take you through the process of logging in.
Click on the logo to visit the Patient Access site.
If you do not already have a log in, it will take you through the process of signing up, or alternatively you can use your NHS Login.
To complete your registration, you will need to ask us for a Patient Access Registration Letter which will have a code in it to enable you to link your account to the surgery. Please take ID with you to collect it. Without this you can use the service but with limited access.
